Pictures, Fieldtrips, and more….oh my!

October 19, 2007, 6:44 pm

Just a quick post to finally share the kiddos pictures with you. :) They got their school pictures back about a month ago and I was bad and haven’t shared them with anyone yet. Sorry about that! So here ya go….

Brad’s Fall 2nd Grade Photo:

And Halle’s very first “official” school photo for Pre-K:

In other news, I went on a field trip today. I must say thank you to the other 8th grade teachers that just informed me YESTERDAY that I was supposed to attend and supervise the students… I wrongly assumed that because this was a HISTORY field trip those teachers would be accompanying them. Apparently ALL 8th grade teachers were to go….oh well! We took the entire 8th grade to Palmyra, MO–a small town about 15 minutes from school. They’re having a Civil War reinactment this weekend and schools were invited to come today to get a tour/lessons of the civil war era. We were only there for about 2 1/2 hours and it really wasn’t that bad. For the most part the students were well behaved and the weather (although windy) cooperated nicely for an outdoor fieldtrip. So my first experience wasn’t so bad. :)

I’m glad it’s the weekend though. I feel like my week has gone on forever! I had to come down to St. Charles for a teacher workshop on Wednesday and we were doing something almost every other night this week. At least we don’t have any big plans this weekend. In fact, aside from a luncheon at church on Sunday, grading some papers, and finishing up an assignment for my grad class, I have NO real plans. Ahhhhhh….freedom!

Oh…one more thing….David had a job interview yesterday morning that went quite well. I believe that the company was quite impressed with him and I know that David would feel quite comfortable in that position. Keep him (and our family) in your prayers if you don’t mind. We really appreciate it!

Oh…I lied….one final thing. Just wanted to give my Daddy a shout out! He turned the big 5-0 (or 50 years young as he says) on the 17th and this is the first time I’ve blogged since then. Happy Birthday, Dad! I love you!

Meet…..Charlie Anderson

We have been adopted! (Notice how I said that we have been adopted…..not that we have adopted.) Haha!

Anyway, meet Charlie Anderson!

David was outside in the backyard one day and this little cat came to visit. He was rubbing at David’s feet, trying to get his attention. At the time, Halle was inside crying about something…until she saw the cat. It was like an instant change of face. We told Brad (who has been asking for a cat for a year) and he came running out of his room to see him. He went outside to play with the cat for a while….which turned into almost two hours! When he came back inside, he begged and pleaded with us to keep him. We had to explain that since we are at Grandma’s house, we can’t have any animals inside. We did tell him that he can play with him as much as he wants outside though. And he does…daily. We even bought little cat treats and food for him. He comes around every single day and is pretty attached to the family. He’s still a little guy….not quite a little kitten anymore, but still a youngin. He still has baby teeth. :) Oh….and Brad had named him within about 5 minutes of playing with him the first time. His name? Charlie Anderson. Odd name for a cat you say? Why yes it is..haha! However, one of the books they read in 2nd grade is called Charlie Anderson. And it’s all about a cat named…..you guessed it, Charlie Anderson! (See here.) Needless to say, it has stuck and we now play with Charlie daily. :)

Here’s some more pictures for you. He really is a gorgeous cat! His eyes are kind of orangish like him (and orange cats are my favorite!) and he has a big bushy tail. It kind of reminds me of a raccoon tail! The photos of Brad and Charlie are from the very first time that Brad met him. They’re pretty tight!

Ok. That’s all for today. I was pretty busy over the last month so I didn’t blog much, but I promise I will try to be more timely from now on! :)
